Beach Astrology: Scorpio

Welcome back to Beach Astrology! We’re now in Scorpio season. Scorpio shares its ruling planet Mars with the sign Aries and represents the other side of conflict management: strategy. Aries blazes ahead like a wildfire, while Scorpio paces the war room and uses its elemental water sign gifts of creativity and intuition to come up with a plan. Retreat and restoration are important to keeping the wheels of that brilliant mind greased, and where better than South Beach Place to do just that? Read on for our beach astrology recommendations…

Grace Kelly in Bermuda 1949

We chose the legendary Grace Kelly as our Scorpio celebrity. The American silver screen actress-turned-Princess of Monaco embodies Scorpio’s magnetism, intensity, and poise, with her elegant sense of fashion, piercing gaze, and sly, enigmatic smile.

Hunting down a faithful reproduction of the Princess’s iconic 70s oversized frames was no easy task, but in the spirit of tenacious Scorpio, we persevered and found these by Gucci. They’re no longer in production by the Italian fashion house but a quick search of the model number GG0988S yields plenty of results from smaller online retailers and resellers (link for the best price we found above)! This neutral two-tone goes with everything, and the warm, honey tint transitions easily from day to night, indoor to outdoor. Versatile function meets retro-chic form, so you don’t have to pack so much when you visit South Beach Place! Now that’s strategic.

There’s something so glamorous and Old Hollywood about a turban, and there are loads of photos of Princess Grace protecting her wavy blonde bob in a tasteful wrap. This Liberty of London headband is a modern reimagining that’s ultra-wearable and keeps your beach waves comfortably in place with the opulence of silk that’s fit for royalty. This caramel butterfly print is a subtle nod to the strong themes of transformation and rebirth in Scorpio and pairs powerfully with the Gucci glasses!

There’s that turban again! What stands out in this photo, however, is Mrs. Kelly’s swingin’ 60’s Pucci caftan. Nothing says “I’m on vacation” like an airy caftan, tunic, or shift dress. This linen tunic minidress by Staud captures Grace’s resort holiday vibe perfectly. That wood bead bag is darling (check the Pisces post for a cute one), but we opted for something that can double as a beach bag and a nice sized shopper for your strolls around Vero. This one from Madewell is made from recycled plastic found on the beaches of Bali and 10% of proceeds go to Nest, a nonprofit that supports independent and small-scale artisans around the world. Scorpios may play their emotions close to their vest, but they are deeply caring.

A moody, complex Scorpio would be the perfect muse for the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. Hitch adored Grace Kelly and almost got her to leave the palace to shoot another nail-biting masterpiece. A classic black halter swimsuit like the one she’s wearing in this promo picture for To Catch a Thief captures the edgy Scorpio vibe while the figure-flattering shirring creates a 50’s silhouette that’s gorgeous on everybody. We can’t believe the one by DKNY we found is from Walmart for less than 20 bucks!

Scorpio, you’re coming to the beach because, as the sign of transformation and renewal, you need to recharge, regroup, and relax so you can get back to conquering the world on all eight cylinders. Take your restoration ritual to the next level at Salt, Vero Beach’s halotherapy spa, where you can zone out in one of their peaceful salt rooms and breathe in the benefits of Himalayan salt for improved respiration, glowing skin, and more! Just five minutes from South Beach Place. We found out about this magical place from a local Scorpio, so that’s a ringing endorsement if we ever heard one!
