Beach Astrology: Sagittarius

Welcome to the grand finale (for now) of our Beach Astrology blog series! With this post, we’ve completed the zodiac with a specially curated collection for each sign of swimwear, beach accessories, and things we think you’d love to check out around Vero Beach.

Astrology has been around forever and spans an array of cultures, but the astrology we know today became ultra-trendy in the 60s along with transcendental meditation (made famous by the Beatles’ travels to India), and a host of new age, culturally diverse ideals of self-exploration and creative expression. So who better to bring our series home than Sagittarius, the kind of rockstar free spirit that would be voted most likely to follow The Grateful Dead on tour and trade tarot readings for backstage access?

Jane Fonda

We picked Jane Fonda as our iconic Sag celeb. These fire signs are deeply philosophical, but their playful nature and unfiltered communication style can make it a struggle to be taken seriously. Perhaps this is why Sagittarians must speak their mind and stand up for what they believe in, however unpopular or controversial it may seem, and Jane’s antiwar activism in the 60s and 70s came with a great deal of backlash.

“Nevertheless, she persisted,” and her quintessential Sag sense of humor helped rehabilitate her public and professional image through her beloved comedic roles in 9 to 5, Monster-In-Law, and her hit show Grace & Frankie with her 9 to 5 co-star Lily Tomlin.

Sag’s are high-energy and we can’t forget the famous Jane Fonda Workout that CNN said, “revolutionized exercise” for the nascent home video market in the 80s. Channel all that fiery energy into a unique workout by signing up for an aerial yoga class at the Bending Light yoga studio! Owner and instructor Shannon told us no acrobatic experience is required and that her senior classes are packed with folks that raved about improved mobility in as little as a week!

Check out live music while you’re visiting Vero. Our friends at Musicworks put on some amazing shows so you can dance and sing along to all your favorite hits from the golden age of rock n’ roll. Visit the link to check out their event calendar and plan a trip around it!

Is that you, Barbarella? Set phasers to “stunning”! Norma Kamali designed a gorgeous silver one-piece with figure-flattering ruching and a wearably sexy plunging neckline for a beach look that’s out of this world.

These pink and grey tinted sunnies by Ray-Ban in a unique butterfly shape capture Sag’s optimistic and free-wheeling curiosity. The gradient grey lenses and silver accents pair perfectly with that chrome swimsuit while the pink adds a whimsical pop of color.

Sag’s are big kids at heart and remind us that it’s okay to take up space, shout it out loud, and that there’s always a bright side. Spread those good vibrations around in style and stretch out on this boldly colorful, oversized beach towel with a cheery message.

Folks, thank you all so much for joining us on this weird and wonderful little blog adventure! Stay tuned for more guest stories, noteworthy events in and around South Beach Place, and more. And remember: you’re a star, baby!
